If politicians are a strange bird-then union officers are stranger. In my local and district council it's sure not about the money. Officers of the local are NOT paid and you have over 2,000 people who KNOW they have the most pressing problem on the planet.

The council officers have 40,000 members and a staff of 200 pushing and pulling them-at least the president now gets "Time Loss" (the union pays what their state salary would have been and the state attempts to hold a position for them if they lose an election).

Yet we run-I just came off a loss for an office while holding down two jobs how insane am I?

The risk of course is confusing what's good for me with whats good everyone else

Failure to Communicate

Unions still don't get it. AFSCME council 28 has homepage capacity for every local-just over half have activated it. Most of those are just place holders with content coming from HQ the ones who have complete home pages are running a bit behind schedule (Washing State U is a full month behind).

My local 1488 UW has one local content item and no specila layout deswpite folks lining up to do the online work.

Gotta fix this disconnect silly thing is best way is word of mouth ah well.
